The keychains are crafted from processed marine debris collected from the heart of the Great Barrier reef, the Whitsunday Islands. Each keychain is one of a kind, handmade by volunteers at Eco Barge Clean Seas and come in a cute little bag.
Eco Barge is a not-for-profit environmental organisation, and a Registered Charity dedicated to engaging our community to preserve and protect the breathtaking marine environment and wildlife of the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef.
Our Journey
Our journey began in 2009, with the Whitsunday Marine Debris Removal Program, which focused on cleaning up the heavily impacted beaches of the Whitsunday Islands.
Over time, our initiatives have expanded to include the Clean Streets and Creeks Program, aimed at reducing the amount of debris entering our waterways. We provide care for sick and injured marine turtles at the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre and recycle collected marine debris, transforming it into reusable products.
Education and awareness are central to our mission. We actively engage with the community to raise awareness about marine debris, promote responsible waste disposal, and inform the public on how to respond to sightings of sick or injured marine turtles.
